ABOUT US

Hi, I'm Susie and together with my merry band of occasional helpers, I grow the flowers.  I have a background in teaching, archaeology and the arts but somehow found myself back in Wiltshire with a field and a flowery idea.  I now grow a range of foliage, perennials and annuals and have an interest in organic and biodynamic methods that help me produce beautiful, natural, strong and sometimes quirky flowers.

The field where we grow the flowers used to be part of the dairy farm where I grew up. Littleford comes from Little Ford, the field name for part of the field where 200 years ago there was a ford over the stream.  The archaeology of the field also includes a canal, a brick kiln and a road.  Its a field that is becoming a farm.  As well as growing flowers, our grass is cut for hay in the summer and provides grazing for sheep in the autumn.  We also have several bee hives and have honey for sale too.

We have an ongoing conservation project at the field balancing the needs of farming with natural habitats for wildlife and public access along a footpath.  The field is home to a wide range of birds and animals. Robins, wrens and woodpeckers live in the oak trees and hedgerows, buzzards and red kites call overhead.  Down by the stream, we sometimes see herons and an egret.  As night falls you can often see a barn owl and a fox as well as roe deer.  Some fencing is a necessity if I am to grow flowers.  Its a quiet place with a lot going on!
